Exhibition

Inspired by the seamless airbrush aesthetic to an imagination of social participation, this show explores interactive art with a participatory method to embrace conflict and negotiation. It intends to use an interactive airbrush system to trigger dialogue and negotiation between participants to imagine possibilities in our social relations.

Using found everyday material, this installation uses the Arduino microcontroller to apply CNC movements to an airbrush machine that is triggered by analog controls and digital sensors. It intentionally gives some control to participants interacting with the airbrush painting. However, the movement of participants also activates the sensors and creates unexpected machine movement. The final result of the painting is in fact the glitches of multiple layers of interactions between people to people, people to the machine, and people to the environment.
